Placement
Clinical placement is the process of lining up an approved preceptor and site so you can complete required hours. Students often originate the search; universities decide whether the arrangement is acceptable.
A verbal “yes” from a clinician is not placement. Placement is complete when your university has approved the preceptor and site for a specific course and term, and any required site onboarding is finished.
Some health systems assign students only after an affiliation agreement exists. That can add weeks. Ask about contracts before you count on a start date.
