Student-initiated versus school-placed

Some programs assign sites. Many graduate nursing programs expect students to originate a site and then apply. Know which model you are in before you judge how late you are.

From a verbal yes to an authorized rotation

1. The clinician agrees they can host you for the dates and hours.
2. You confirm credential and setting fit against the current handbook.
3. You submit the university’s application or nomination materials.
4. The school reviews the preceptor and site.
5. The site finishes any required onboarding.
6. Only then are hours typically authorized.
